More than 1,000 people and hundreds of dogs attended Petchitecture 2001- Building A Better City.  This annual fundraiser for Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) is a unique event in San Francisco.  Humans munched on food from Now You're Cooking, wines from BV Vineyards,  vodka from Blavod and truffles from Joseph Schmidt, while the four legged guests dined on gourment doogie food from Smiling Dog Bakery.

Among the Honored Guests were the SF Police Department K-9, the USDA Beagle Brigade, service dogs and PAWS pets!   PAWS received two proclamations- one presented by Supervisor Mark Leno on behalf the city of San Francisco declaring March 8, 2001 as Petchitecture Day in San Francisco.  The second honor was presented on behalf of the California State Assembly by the Office of Assemblymember Kevin Shelley.

SOME OF THE PETCHITECTURE
This doggie bed -The "Bark-aloner" by Skidmore, Owens and Merrill -was a favorite of Darwin's.  It is based on the Mies van der Rhoe Barcelona chair.  His dad bid on it- but stopped when the bidding went over $800.00.  The winning bid was $1,200.00
